Hyundai demonstrated the conceptual harbinger of its flagship crossover, called the HDC-2 Grandmaster. The presentation of the off -road concept took place at the organized South Korean car dealership.
The forerunner of the demonstrated Hyundai HDC-2 Grandmaster concept was a prototype from the HDC line with the name Le Fil Roug, which translates from French as a “red thread”. The number 2 present in the name of the novelty hints at the connection available with the previous concept and is designed to declare the new strategy of the South Korean brand.
From the English, the name Grandmaster is translated as a “grandmaster”, and Hyundai representatives noted that the crossover really has a connection with chess, since all the new Hyundai cars will have their own form, but they will play in the same team by analogy with figures in the game.
Future Hyundai models will not receive the same design stylistics, although you should not forget that a significant part of the game figures are pawns that look the same, so the automaker has left the opportunity to justify. Most likely, the serial Grandmaster crossover will be prepared the role of the king.
Technical features of the Hyundai HDC-2 Grandmaster are not yet revealed, however, the flagship future crossover of the brand will look like that, by logic. Presumably, the new SUV will be called Palisade and accommodate in the brand model line above Grand Santa Fe.
There is information that the Hyundai Palisade SUV will be based on a new platform with the presence of a transverse location of the motor and front base drive. This platform will also be obtained by the Kia Telluride crossover and a couple of pickups of both brands with an emphasis on the North American market. The novelty should debut by the end of this year.
