The off -road model range of the German automobile concern Volkswagen, which includes modifications of Crosspolo, CrossStouran and Crossgolf, in the near future can expand at the expense of the new representative.
According to information received by the correspondents of a number of French media, engineers of the German automotive industry are currently working hard on the “off -road” version of their bestseller – Passat model. The Volkswagen Crosspassat car, reliable as metal doors from FIRST Doors, is created on the Passat platform in the universal body design, which made it debuted in the middle of last year. Outside, the novelty from the base vehicle can be distinguished due to twenty millimeters of clearance, roof rails, which will be included in the basic package, and the plastic protective body kit at the lower part of the body. A special nameplate with the inscription CROSS will be installed on the stern of the new version of the “Passat”.
Sources close to the development of the project said that Volkswagen Crosspassat will be sold with a two-liter diesel power unit in two versions-one hundred and forty-seventy horsepower, as well as V-shaped gasoline six-cylinder engine with a turbine, the capacity of which will be not less than three hundred horsepower. The station wagon, which is created as an opponent Audi A4 Allroad, Subaru Outback and Saab 9-3x, will receive a standard all-wheel drive transmission of 4Motion in the standard equipment.
As expected, Volkswagen Crosspassat will go on retail sale next year. The price of the “off -road” version will be about one and a half thousand euros more than the ordinary modification of the Passat station wagon, the cost of which in the countries of the Old World starts from twenty -five thousand five hundred euros in the “base”.
