Volvo will worry about animal safety

by usanews

The Swedish car manufacturer Volvo has long established itself, as a concern, engaged in the development and implementation of innovative security systems. Now, the Scandinavians decided to engage in the development of technology, which in the future will help the driver avoid a collision with wild animals, reports CARS Internet portal. UK. As expected, after two or three years, the Swedes will put on their facilities the release of cars equipped with special sensors, which will warn the driver with a signal when animals appear on the road, and with emergency (great risk of collision)-independently stop the car.

Volvo said that the “pedestrian” security system Detection Pedestrian, which the Scandinavian company presented last year, was taken as the basis of the new technology. The main components of innovative development are infrared camera and radar, which will scan the space in front of a moving machine. In particular, the security system is useful for driving in the dark, because it is during this period that the largest number of accidents with the participation of animals and cars occurs. If a living creature is detected on the carriageway, the device will first inform the driver with a sound signal, if there is a high probability of hitting the animal – the system itself will stop the vehicle.

Work on the commissioning of technology began last year. At the moment, the “Volvts” have come to the most difficult stage of their design: the company’s engineers are trying to “teach” the system to respond differently to different types of animals. Priority, of course, is given to a more overall four -legged – lani, deer, moose – after all, the larger the animal, the more damage is caused to the car and passengers when colliding with it.

In order to understand the habits of animals and lay the algorithm of their usual behavior in memory of the device, the engineers of the Scandinavian automaker spent several weeks in one of the Swedish reserves.
