At the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, Smart will hold a premiere show of a compact conceptual family, known under the working name Forspeed.
The design of the concept is largely similar to the convertible Smart Crossblade, developed in the style of the same prototype ten years ago and released by a limited party of two thousand units. It was still believed that the novelty would be a harbinger of the ideological successor of the Crossblade model, but the company representatives said that it was not planned to produce such a vehicle on a serial scale. They noted that the key task of Forspeed is to demonstrate the design course of the upcoming Smarta models, including Fortwo of a new generation and resurrected Forfour with five doors.
The Smart Forspeed concept car is equipped with an electric motor that issues a forty-one horsepower that accelerates the car from a place of up to sixty kilometers per hour in five and a half seconds and continues to accelerate up to one hundred and twenty kilometers per hour. It is noteworthy that the prototype accelerates to sixty kilometers for a whole second more rapidly than a typical electric car on the platform of the current Fortwo hatchback. Forspeed can overcome over one hundred and thirty -five kilometers on fully charged batteries, and only forty -five minutes take to charge batteries for up to eighty percent.
As noted earlier, the German concern Mercedes-Benz also studies the possibility of the release of the next generation Smart Roadster model. According to unofficial information, the emergence of such a car is one of the possible scenarios of the upcoming expansion of the model range of the brand, which starts the coming years as part of the German cooperation with the French car manufacturer Renault.
