The Reuters news agency reports that two American gospel clergymen, declaring Islam Lullia, burned two copies of the Holy Islamic book “Koran”. This action took place near the house of one of these pastors – next to Nashville, which is located in Tennessee.
Reuters notes that similar events have occurred in New York. So, for example, one of the participants in the demonstration directed against the planned construction of the Muslim center and the mosque on Manhattan tore several pages from the Qur’an, after which he set them up. Another US citizen, shocking passers -by tearing out several pages from the Qur’an, demonstrated obscene and rude gestures with them.
On September 11, soon after the end of ceremonies in memory of the 9/11 people who died as a result of the attacks, both opponents and supporters of the construction of the Muslim center were held in New York. It is worth noting that according to the construction plans, it should be placed near the place where the twin tower blown up by terrorists previously stood.
Despite the fact that hundreds of people participated in these street performances, nevertheless, they still managed to avoid clashes, so none of those present at demonstrations were injured and, therefore, was not detained.
Recall that about a month ago in the United States there was a scandal provoked by the promise of one priest-gospel from Florida, namely Terry Jones, who showed his discontent regarding plans for the construction of the Islamic Center and threatened to overhaul several hundred copies of the Islamic Holy Book. Such threats of Jones caused strong indignation not only from numerous public organizations, but also from world leaders. Terry Jones also called to abandon such actions by the President of the United States of America – Barack Obama.
Shortly before September 11, Jones reported that the Qur’an would not burn. According to him, he received a promise that the construction of the Muslim center would be transferred to another place. Who exactly gave him such a promise is unknown, because investors did not make any official statements about this.
In his speech to the Americans, regarding the anniversary of the terrorist attacks, Obama assured that the United States would never fight Islam. He also added that the attacks of 9/11 were committed by criminals who perverted the religion.
