On October 12, the report-election conference of the Rostov Regional Branch of the All-Russian Organization of Veterans (Pensioners) of War, Labor, Armed Forces and Law enforcement agencies was held, at which the results of work were summed up for the period from 2005 to 2010. The regional conference was preceded by reporting and election meetings in primary organizations, city and district reporting and election conferences.
As of October 1, 16 city, 39 district, 8 district organizations, which include 1830 primarys, function in the region. They combine over 1 million. 55 thousand retirees, including participants in the Second World War, 14.5 thousand people; war and military service veterans, veterans of law enforcement agencies and rear workers – 688 thousand people; labor veterans of the federal level – 409 thousand people; labor veterans of the Rostov region – 50 thousand people; age pensioners who do not have a veteran status – 370 thousand people.
The governor addressed the conference with a welcoming speech, whose appeal was read out by his deputy in. G. Goncharov.
The conference was also attended by a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the region, ministers of social development, healthcare, representatives of the Pension Fund, the regional resident, trade union committee and other organizations.
The reporting report was made by the chairman of the regional council of veterans p. AND. Gavrilko. The reports and speeches of the conference participants were anxiety about numerous social problems that have not been solving for many years. At the conference, it was decided:
– consider the main direction in the work of the veteran organization the social and legal protection of veterans, the improvement of patriotic education of youth, perpetuating the memory of the defenders of the fatherland;
– achieve an increase in the size of pensions to a level twice the subsistence minimum, the distribution of benefits for the secondary workers for workers of the rear, considering the status of veterans and retirement veterans of war, raising pensions to the widows of the dead participants in the Second World War, streamline the payment of pensions to participants in hostilities;
– continue to work to provide housing and improve the living conditions of people with disabilities, participants and veterans of the Second World War, widows of defenders of the Fatherland;
– reduce the length of service to obtain the status of a veteran of the Rostov Region for men – up to 40 years, women – up to 35 years;
– eliminate the combination of paid and free (preferential) medical and drug support in one medical institution.
