On October 16, on Saturday, in France, mass protests were held against the introduction of pension reform, which, among other things, also an increase in the retirement age. So the Agency France-Presse information agency reports that according to official figures provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of France, about eight hundred and five thousand people entered the streets in different cities of this country. However, according to representatives of the trade unions, the number of demonstrators has already exceeded three million.
In addition, trade union leaders warned that on October 10, on Tuesday, a new series of rallies would be held. They also argue that next week it is expected to continue the national strike, which, most likely, will include new enterprises.
Recall that the new bill, which provides for an increase in the threshold of the retirement age from sixty to sixty -two years, has already received the approval of the lower house of the parliament and at this time was put forward to the upper. So in France, protests and demonstrations directed against this reform are regularly held since May of this year.
The last wave of protests swept through the country last month. During that strike, railways, airports and some other enterprises and organizations almost completely ceased to function. So, for example, the strike of official personnel of the Marcelsky Sea Port entailed serious interruptions in the supply of oil products to France – as a result of rallies, the work of ten from twelve oil refinery of France was suspended.
On Saturday afternoon, due to the situation, a statement was made in the Ministry of Transport, according to which in Paris-at the Airport named after Charles de Gaulle, only until Tuesday. On the same day, but a little later, the head of the French Civil Aviation Department announced the resumption of fuel supply to Parisian.
So the Agency “Agency France-Presse” reports that on October 16, large-scale protests were held in Italy. Tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of the Italian capital. The cause of the strike was the discontent by citizens by the work of the Government.
Protesters believe that the Italian government wants to eliminate the problem of budget deficit at the expense of citizens, reducing the number of jobs and expenses for social needs. The leaders of the trade unions promised that if the authorities did not take measures against progressive unemployment, then at the end of the next month the workers organize a new demonstration, after which a general strike will begin.
