The other day, the Minister of Economics Tigran Davtyan, visiting CJSC Almast, examined the production workshops.
This enterprise, founded in 1964, produces artificial diamond powders for the processing of stone and natural non -metallic materials, as well as tools for cutting and grinding, used in various industries and construction. In 2001, the state share of the enterprise was sold by CJSC International Business Center. All the main production workshops and sites were overhaul, a new section of chemical processing of diamond raw materials, which meets modern technical requirements, was built, and the factory territory was landscaped. In total, over the years of its existence, the enterprise produced more than 1.5 billion carats of diamond powders and tools.
Today, an enterprise where 65 people work (the average salary of about 90 thousand drams) operates stably. According to the director of Almast CJSC Vagram Tepelikyan, for seven months of 2011, the company produced products by 81.5 million drams, which is more than twice the volume of production for the same period last year. The volume of sales of products for the same period amounted to 77 million drams (growth compared to last year amounted to 79.2%), of which 29.4 million drams were exported.
As noted in. Tepelikyan, export growth was provided by entering the Iranian market. Part of the company’s products is also exported to the US markets, Georgia. In addition, work is underway to search for reliable partners in Russia to increase exports to this country. Steps are being taken to enter the European market, and a pilot project to enter the Croatia market has already been implemented. Moreover, only 15-20% of the production capacities of the plant has currently been involved.
As one of the serious problems of the enterprise in the domestic market in. Tepelikyan called the smuggling import of similar Chinese -made products, lasting more than one year, and the inaction of the authorities to suppress this phenomenon. “If illegally imported Chinese products will go to the legal field, it will not be able to compete at a price with ours,” emphasized in. Tepelikyan.
According to the director, the enterprise is currently developing a new investment program, the implementation of which will allow the further sustainable development of the plant.
According to T. Davtyan, two-digit growth in the field of Armenia industry, which amounted to 12-13%in recent months, will most likely remain until the end of 2011. The observed trends indicate that in the near future the main investments will be directed to the sphere of industry and for the development of exports, including within the framework of government programs.
